Zelenskyy: Russia hits Ukraine's energy system, we retaliate

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed that Russia continues to attack Ukraine's energy facilities, while the defence forces continue to respond with strikes on enterprises that support the aggressor state's defence industry.

There are new results from the defence forces of Ukraine regarding the refinery in Syzran. There was also a strike in Taganrog on a drone production facility, as well as on a drone preparation and launch site in Oryol Oblast. Targets were hit in the Black Sea as well.

I thank every one of our warriors for the effectiveness of our long-range sanctions!"

• On 14 September, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine and Russia had supposedly agreed not to strike energy facilities.
• Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented in his evening address on 14 September on the US proposal for a mutual halt to strikes on critical infrastructure. "If this can become the first step towards de-escalation – a step involving an end to Russian strikes on our critical infrastructure and our strikes in response – then Ukraine is ready to support de-escalation," he said.
• The Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that talks on halting strikes on energy facilities have been under way for some time, but Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin does not want to reach an agreement before winter sets in.
