Ukrainian drones behind killing of Russian general who "captured" Kostiantynivka

Robert "Magyar" Brovdi, Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF), has reported that USF drones killed Major General Anton Grunis, Commander of Russia's 4th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade, in temporarily occupied Donetsk Oblast on 12 September.

Quote: "As a man with a Hungarian surname, born in Ukraine and using the birds [drones – ed.] to fight for the motherland, I report loud and clear: General Grunis was eliminated by the USF birds' champion department of retribution on 12 September 2026 in his night-time lair in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk Oblast."

Details: Brovdi said the Russian general was killed by drones operated by the Rarog unit – Ukraine's 427th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade.

He also noted that Grunis is the seventh Russian military commander at brigade, division or army level confirmed to have been killed by USF drones.

Background: Reports previously emerged in Russia that Grunis had been killed in the war against Ukraine shortly after reporting to Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the purported "capture" of Kostiantynivka.
