Ukrainian energy minister: Ukraine has received intelligence on Russian strategy for strikes on energy sector
Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal has said that Ukraine has obtained documents detailing Russia's preparations for attacks on the energy sector this winter.

Quote: "Last week, we received information from our intelligence services which they had obtained from the Russian side – the strategy the Russian terrorists will use this winter.
Our partners, like us, were struck by its cynicism, by this cold, terrorist calculation of how to destroy our energy sector."
Details: Shmyhal added that Russia's plans envisage comprehensive strikes targeting everything from heat and water supplies and sewage systems to power generation and interconnectors – both at the point of entry into Ukraine from Europe and via the Dnipro River.
Quote: "There are two large documents, written in a very cold and precise manner. They contain tables specifying the amount of weaponry needed to destroy each facility. The types of weapons range from ballistic missiles to jet-powered and conventional drones. Everything has been calculated, with the required strike packages – as they call them – set out for each facility. We understand how they are going to act."
Details: Shmyhal said Ukraine is making thorough preparations to protect itself.
Quote: "More than 200 shelters have already been built – permanent concrete structures over facilities that are priority targets for the Russians. Pre-detonation screens are also being installed, and we are introducing nets to protect against FPV drones."
Details: The minister added that Ukraine is working with its partners to stockpile equipment because "not everything can be protected with concrete".
Background: On 23 September, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned at the UN General Assembly that Ukraine would make winter painful for Russia if it continued striking Ukraine's energy system.
