Russian attack damages equipment at Trypillia Thermal Power Plant – photo

Russian forces attacked the Trypillia Thermal Power Plant in Kyiv Oblast on the night of 29-30 September, damaging generating equipment.

Details: Centrenergo said: "The generating equipment at Trypillia Thermal Power Plant has been damaged as a result of yet another Russian attack today."

Quote from Centrenergo CEO Serhii Isachenko: "Our immediate priority now is to assess the condition of the equipment and determine the scope of the work required. As soon as the safety situation allows, our experts will begin repair work. The team knows what needs to be done and continues to work."

Details: The company is not currently providing further details on the aftermath of the attack for safety reasons. Centrenergo noted that its employees are carrying out their work in extremely difficult conditions.

"The enemy is deliberately targeting energy infrastructure ahead of the heating season, hoping to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heating. But we will withstand it," the company said.

Background:

• Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said that Russia launched large-scale strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on the night of 29-30 September. He noted that it was the first attack of such scale and complexity since the end of the previous heating season.
• As of the morning of Wednesday 30 September, some consumers in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts were without power as a result of hostilities and Russian attacks.
• Russian forces have attacked the Trypillia Thermal Power Plant before. In April 2024, a large-scale attack caused a major fire in the turbine hall.
