Details: Astra said that residents of Volgograd had reported drones and several explosions in different parts of the city overnight. They also complained that no air-raid warning had been issued.
After analysing eyewitness footage, Astra determined that the glow from the fire could be seen coming from the direction of the Volgograd oil refinery and the nearby Kaustik plant. However, the available footage does not make it possible to determine what exactly caught fire.
Exilenova+ reported that explosions could be heard for a long time both in the city itself and in the industrial area of the Volgograd oil refinery.
Bocharov said the region's industrial infrastructure had come under a large-scale drone attack, but did not report any fires at the plants.
Quote from Bocharov: "A fire has broken out in a high-rise residential building on Udmurtskaya Street in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd following a large-scale terrorist attack by UAVs carried out by the criminal Kyiv regime against industrial infrastructure facilities in Volgograd Oblast overnight. One person has been hospitalised and the fire has been contained. Emergency services are working at the scene, and efforts to deal with the aftermath are ongoing."
For reference: The Volgograd oil refinery is part of Lukoil and is one of Russia's largest oil refining facilities. It produces petrol, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil and bitumen.
Kaustik is a chemical plant in southern Volgograd. According to Astra, it produces dual-use products that are important to Russia's defence industry.
