Quote from the Navy: "Relatives of the Ukrainian defence forces' military personnel who remained in the temporarily occupied territories may face pressure from the Russian secret services. The occupiers use them as an instrument of blackmail, threatening them, illegally detaining them, and trying to force Ukrainian defenders to cooperate.
This is exactly what happened to the father and aunt of a marine officer of the Ukrainian Navy. Representatives of the Russian FSB [Federal Security Service - ed.] detained them and tried to use them as leverage against the Ukrainian serviceman.
However, fighters of the Angels, a special reconnaissance detachment of the Navy, intervened in the enemy's plans."
Details: The video states that in June this year, the Ukrainian marine officer received a call from his father's number, but a representative of the Russian secret services spoke to him. They began pressuring the Ukrainian soldier to cooperate, blackmailing him with the life and health of his relative. The officer's aunt was also subjected to pressure.
The unit commander reported this to his superiors.
The Navy emphasised that the evacuation operation from the temporarily occupied territory was complex and multi-stage. Thanks to the cooperation between the Angels and Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Navy officer's relatives were successfully returned home.
According to the officer's father, the occupiers beat and tortured him after detaining him.
Quote from the Navy: "Russia may try to use relatives as hostages, threaten families, and blackmail Ukrainian soldiers. But there is one thing the enemy cannot change: Ukraine does not abandon its own."
