Zelenskyy announces important agreements with Germany amid chancellor's visit

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced "important agreements" between Ukraine and Germany on strengthening defence.

Details: Zelenskyy noted that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is in Kyiv on 4 October.
The president thanked Germany for all the support it has provided and announced preparations for decisions that will "give us in Ukraine, and all of Europe, greater capabilities to defend ourselves".
"There will be important agreements between Ukraine and Germany. Russia must be stopped together," he stressed.
Background:
- According to German news agency dpa, Merz intends to make commitments to Ukraine regarding further financial and military support, including the supply of thousands of interceptor drones and the acceleration of long-range weapons production.
- Merz recently said he is working on solutions to strengthen Ukraine's air defence, which is currently Kyiv's biggest weakness.
