Over a third of Ukrainians expect more military aid from EU – poll

A poll has found that over 34% of Ukrainians see the EU's security and defence role primarily in increasing military assistance to Ukraine. In comparison, around 19% expect stronger financial support, and about 11% want the EU to help facilitate peace talks.

Details: In an open-ended question about Ukrainians' views of the EU's security and defence role, 34.9% of respondents named increased military assistance.
The five most common responses also included stronger financial support for Ukraine, mentioned by 19.1% of respondents; assistance in ending the war or facilitating peace talks (11.2%); stronger sanctions and pressure on Russia (9.7%); and an overall increase in EU assistance and engagement (8.3%).
A total of 7.7% of respondents said the EU should monitor the use of funds in Ukraine and support efforts to combat corruption. Meanwhile, 3.5% said helping Ukraine join the EU is important.
Background: The same poll also found that over 60% of Ukrainians see the EU as a reliable, long-term partner for Ukraine in the field of security and defence.
