Driving out on a robot: 60th Brigade evacuates two civilians from Lyman – video

Details: The 3rd Army Corps said that this method was chosen because of the constant threat posed by Russian UAVs in the city.
Lyman is located close to the line of contact, but around 1,500 civilians still remain there.
The high level of danger has made evacuating residents more difficult, as government emergency services and volunteers are unable to reach the city. The military therefore brought in neighbouring units to escort the civilians along the evacuation route.
The operation was led by soldiers from the Cerberus unmanned ground systems company of the 60th Separate Mechanised Brigade. It was carefully planned with weather conditions and the security situation taken into account. An unmanned ground vehicle was used to rescue the man and woman from a dangerous area of Lyman.
The UGV transported them without the need to deploy military personnel directly into the high-risk area. Operators controlled the vehicle remotely throughout the evacuation.
The evacuated woman had injuries to her arm and leg. The previous day, shrapnel from a drone had wounded her in the shoulder, and she had been forced to treat the injury herself.
She and the man were taken to the 60th Separate Mechanised Brigade's stabilisation point, where they received medical assistance. Both civilians are now safe.
Natalka Bahrii, head of the brigade's civil-military cooperation unit, urged residents of frontline areas to evacuate in good time and heed announcements from local authorities. She said doing so would help avoid putting both civilians and soldiers at risk.
The evacuation was carried out under AB3.Humanitarian, the 3rd Army Corps' humanitarian initiative for evacuating civilians from areas of active hostilities.
Background: Earlier, Ukrainian soldiers evacuated 79-year-old Ela Fedorivna and her 86-year-old husband from the outskirts of Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. They had been the only residents remaining in a destroyed neighbourhood of the city.
