Trump explains that he doesn't mock Putin because he has to make a deal with him

US President Donald Trump has said he believes that calling Vladimir Putin a dictator is mocking him, and this conflicts with his desire to make a deal with the Russian leader.
Source: Trump in an interview with Gray Television correspondent John Decker, reported by European Pravda
Details: Decker noted that Senator Dan Sullivan has called Putin a dictator, an authoritarian and a mafia regime leader and has also spoken out against Trump's "diesel deal" with Putin. Decker asked the US president why Sullivan is "wrong" on this issue.
Quote from Trump: "Well, look, I have to make deals with people, so I don't go around calling them names. I'm a dealmaker. I've always been a very good dealmaker. I became very rich because of deals. So I don't go around mocking people. You know, part of the reason you have that war in the first place is Biden went around mocking Russia and mocking everybody else and didn't know what he was doing."
Details: Trump reiterated once again that if the 2020 presidential election had not been "rigged", the war between Ukraine and Russia would not have started.
Quote: "So, I also feel it's not oil coming to us: it is diesel, which you need. I feel that it's great because it's released to the world. It's not released to us – it's released out to the world, and it's going to bring down the price of diesel oil very substantially."
Background:
- Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on 14 October that the US's diesel deal with Russia is a "very risky choice".
- On 14 October, a bipartisan group of 12 US senators wrote to Trump demanding that he scrap the deal with Putin to allow Russian-origin diesel fuel to be sold on global markets.
