Background:
- In September, Hungarian Parliament Speaker Ágnes Forsthoffer, along with other officials, refused to meet with her Ukrainian counterpart in Budapest.
- Relations between Ukraine and Hungary have now temporarily improved: Prime Minister Péter Magyar confirmed he would meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the EU summit on 15-16 October.
- On 12 October, the Ukrainian parliament approved amendments to the law on education. The changes are necessary for Hungary to agree to the opening of negotiating clusters 2 and 3 in Ukraine's EU accession talks.
