Politico, citing its sources among EU diplomats, has written that European Union leaders did not exert any pressure on President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to tone down his remarks on Washington or US President Donald Trump.

Details: Politico recalls that Zelenskyy sparked fresh anger from Trump by announcing that Kyiv would resume strikes on Russian oil refineries, even though the US president recently called on the Ukrainian leader to resign.

However, the EU did not attempt to influence Zelenskyy's communications with Trump, according to the publication's sources.

"What do you expect him [Zelenskyy] to do? He's desperate and the situation is as bad as it can get," stated one diplomat who spoke to the publication on condition of anonymity.
