Details: Answering questions from journalists, Rubio stated that no other country has helped Ukraine to the extent that the US has.
Quote: "If it were not for the assistance of the United States, including under the Trump administration, there would be no Ukraine right now, Ukraine as a sovereign state would not exist."
Details: Rubio added that the bravery of Ukrainian service members in repelling Russian aggression still deserves recognition.
Quote: "That doesn't mean the bravery of the Ukrainian fighters should not be highlighted, because they have absolutely very bravely fought for their country and done extraordinary things with the aid that has been provided to them, standing up to a much larger country. But let's be very clear there, there would be no Ukraine today were it not for the assistance the United States has supplied Ukraine in the billions of dollars, going back to the Biden administration and through this administration."
Background: On 20 October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Rubio and announced another upcoming discussion. He described the conversation as very positive.
He also noted that the talks with the US representatives in Oslo included a detailed discussion on security guarantees.
