Details: Photos and videos showing the aftermath of the attack on Tolyattikauchuk have been posted on social media.

The posts said that "locals are reporting a major fire at the plant and are continuing to spot drones".

There have also been reports of a possible evacuation at AvtoVAZ, a Russian car manufacturer.

For reference: The Tolyattikauchuk plant specialises in the production of synthetic rubber, monomers, fractions and high-octane petrol additives. According to the Ukrainian military, synthetic rubber is used, among other things, to manufacture solid rocket propellant for tactical and ballistic missiles.

Background:

  • This is not the first attack on the plant, which supplies Russia's defence industry. Ukraine's defence forces also attacked Tolyattikauchuk on the night of 11-12 September.
  • In April, drones also attacked Tolyatti. Telegram channels reported that two chemical plants had been hit and fires had broken out.
