Details: The teenager is presenting his project at an international science and technology fair in Brazil.
Eleventh-grader Kyrylo Pavliuk studies at the Science Lyceum of the Khortytsia National Academy in Zaporizhzhia. He is working on a prototype of a device that will help individuals notice the signs of sensory overload in time.
Kyrylo named his project Safe Space. The bracelet tracks physiological indicators using sensors, and the data is transmitted to a linked app. The system then analyses it and issues an alert if it detects signs of overload.
The device is primarily intended to help a person with autism realise when stimuli (sounds, bright lights, touches or crowds) become overwhelming, meaning it is time to take a break to calm down.
Safe Space is only a prototype, so it requires testing, verification and refinement. However, Kyrylo will be presenting it in Brazil on 26-30 October at MOSTRATEC 2026, an international science and technology fair for young researchers.
Background: Earlier, Mykhailo Bilous, a schoolboy from Kyiv, won third place at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS). He was awarded for developing a neural network to create antibacterial drugs.
