Russia destroyed 800,000 sq m of Ukraine's warehouse space in third quarter, says National Bank

Russian forces attacked warehouses 153 times between July and September 2026, destroying 800,000 sq m of storage space.

Details: These losses may decline in Q4, as companies are spreading their inventories across multiple locations and carrying out partial repairs to damaged facilities.

Meanwhile, the destruction of warehouses has driven up logistics costs for businesses. According to market estimates, the cost of renting high-quality warehouse space has risen by 12-13% in just a few months.

The NBU attributes the rise in warehouse rents to the decentralisation of logistics networks, longer delivery routes and smaller shipments, all of which are driving up transport and storage costs.

Furthermore, the destruction of stock and supply chain disruptions are reducing the availability and variety of certain products.

Overall, the consequences of Russia's intensified attacks on businesses and infrastructure, along with the port blockade, will reduce Ukraine's real GDP growth rate in 2026 by 1.9 percentage points and add about 0.7 percentage points to annual inflation.

A total of 2.1 million sq m of warehouse space has been lost in Ukraine since 2022.

Background: After losing several supermarkets, warehouses and production facilities, the Fozzy Group announced job cuts in September affecting some office staff, employees of the Silpo supermarket chain and logistics personnel.
