Details: As noted, during this difficult time for Ukraine, Norway is providing 500 million Norwegian kroner to Ukraine's state budget via the World Bank. These funds will help maintain the operation of critical public services and ensure the payment of salaries, pensions and social benefits in the civilian sector at the beginning of 2027.

Quote from Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide: "Ukraine's resilience also depends on keeping everyday life going, even as the war continues. Norway is helping to ensure that children can go to school, hospitals can treat patients and pensioners can receive their pensions."

Details: Norway's support also strengthens Ukraine's position in any future negotiations with Russia. Norway previously has also provided assistance to meet the urgent financial needs of Ukraine's state budget.

The funding is provided through the World Bank's multi-donor trust fund, which reimburses verified expenditures for salaries, pensions, and social benefits in the civilian sector, particularly in healthcare, education and emergency services.

This support will help ensure payments to vulnerable households, pensioners, and public sector workers. It will also contribute to meeting financial needs at the end of the year and represents Norway's first contribution to financing Ukraine's civilian state budget in 2027.
