Media: UK prepares for Zelenskyy's visit next year
The United Kingdom will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on a state visit next year.
Source: The Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the matter, European Pravda
Details: King Charles III will formally host the state visit.
The visit is intended to demonstrate the long-term and unwavering support for Ukraine across the British political spectrum.
A special and unconventional programme of events is being considered, including a second address by the Ukrainian president to the UK Parliament.
Government officials told the publication that Zelenskyy's visit is unlikely to coincide with the G20 summit in Manchester, scheduled for November that year.
The Ukrainian president has visited the United Kingdom several times, most recently last month.
He met UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham on Downing Street.
Background:
- Andy Burnham previously said that Russian ruler Vladimir Putin would not attend next year's G20 leaders' summit, which will be hosted by the UK.
- The statement that Putin would not be invited to the upcoming 2027 G20 summit in Manchester came in contrast to the actions of the US administration. Washington has officially invited the Russian ruler to attend next month's G20 leaders' summit in Miami.
