NABU: Onyshchenko Has Flown to Nice

MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko from the Volia Narodu [Ukr.: People’s Will] parliamentary group, who is being investigated by National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), has left the territory of Ukraine, according to official information NABU received from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Onyshchenko left on a charter flight to France at 7:54 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. He has not been back to Ukraine as of 3 pm June 16, NABU says. According to NABU, "there is no legal mechanism to restrict his freedom of movement right now," without the prior approval of the Verkhovna Rada. However, NABU promised to "react proportionately" to anything Onyshchenko might do, and put him on an international wanted list if he hides from investigation, if the Verkhovna Rada satisfies the Prosecutor General’s request to deprive him of parliamentary immunity.

The text of the corresponding statement submitted to the Verkhovna Rada has the full list of people accused of the alleged crimes along with Onyshchenko, including his mother Inessa Kadyrova.
