Elmira Ablyailimova, the wife of the Deputy Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Ahtem Çiygoz, wrote on Facebook [Ed.: this Facebook post is in the Ukrainian language] about an attempted assault on her on the night of Thursday, June 16.

She said that a group of strangers entered her yard at 10.40 pm, but the neighbors noticed them and raised alarm, so they ran away. She added that taking into account that people went missing in Crimea, she thought her life was in danger. Ablyalimova plans to report the incident to the Investigative Committee and the FSB, but she says that "she doesn’t know how to protect herself."

Çiygoz was jailed in relation to the so-called ‘case of February 26’, when Crimean Tatars gathered in 2014 to protest against the annexation of Crimea.
