Border Guards Arrest Militant with Russian Citizenship

The Kramatorsk unit of the Ukrainian Border Guards arrested a Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) militant who has Russian citizenship at Marinka checkpoint on July 11, the press service of the State Border Service reports.

The man was wearing civilian clothing and came from the territories that are not government controlled. The Russian citizen was part of the ‘Vostok’ militant battalion and lived in Donetsk. He had a conflict with the so-called ‘DNR police’ in which he used his weapon, so he decided to escape and surrender to Ukrainian law enforcement.

The arrested man was handed over to the National Police. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has been informed about him.

On July 11, the Ukrainian General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Army repelled an attack by a group of militants, arresting the wounded militant fighters. One of them, also a Russian citizen, died from heavy wounds.
