‘Cross Procession’ Continues Moving Towards Kyiv
Participants of the Cross Procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate who came from Pochayiv Lavra in Ternopil oblast continue walking towards Kyiv from Zhytomyr direction, the National Police told Interfax Ukraine on Tuesday night, July 26.
People have not yet gotten into the buses to drive to their accommodation. Police continue to accompany the column to ensure law and order. It is expected that the column will enter Kyiv from the side of Akademmistechko district and stop for the night within the city limits in the Church of St. Theodosius of Chernihiv.
Earlier, the participants of the Procession who came from Sviatohir Lavra in Donetsk oblast and were walking from Boryspil direction got on the buses and drove to the accommodation. It was planned that the two columns will unite in Kyiv on July 27.
According to the information of the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence, Russian special services planned to use the cross procession to organize provocations. It was announced yesterday by Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov that the Cross Procession is banned from Kyiv due to the threat of mass provocations.
