Head of Naftogaz: Gas Rates Will Go Down Only If World Prices Do

Ukrainian gas rates may go down only if world gas prices do, the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Andriy Kobolyev said on 5 Kanal.

"Gas became the same kind of product as oil, or petrol, or other products. If the world prices drop, the rates will drop. But if they increase, they will increase," he said.

"We have made the decision to tie the full price for gas to the import parity price, which is the only correct mechanism in the case of Ukraine, an importing country. Everything else is just the attempts of politicians to promote ideas that bring them certain electoral results," Kobolyev added.
