Ukraine speculates that Russia may not have control over troops storming nuclear power plant

The leader of President Zelenskyy’s Sluha Narodu [Servant of the People] party and one of the participants in the talks between Ukraine and Russia, David Arakhamiya, believes that Russia does not have much control over the Russian-allied forces sent by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, so-called Kadyrovites, that seized nuclear facilities in Ukraine.

Quote: "There are several layers to this issue: the issue of war, as well as legal and investigative issues. Even if we assume that there will be a peace agreement, it does not mean that a certain number of people who are guilty of this will not be held responsible.

"At present, nuclear facilities are run by the Kadyrovites. They killed several workers who had studied and worked for decades to oversee nuclear safety.

"When the attack on these facilities began, we were telling the whole world that we could not...And even Russia, we believe, cannot know for sure what these Chechen militants have in mind.

"They can blackmail Russia and say, 'Give Chechnya independence'.

"The situation at present is that terrorist groups have seized nuclear facilities".

Details: According to Arakhamiya, during talks with Russia, Ukraine proposed creating a no-fly and conflict-free zone within a 30-km radius around nuclear facilities.

However, according to him, the Russian side did not agree.
