Quote from Budanov: "Actually, the number (of Russian troops in Belarus – ed.) is insignificant, absolutely tiny."

Details: According to Budanov, at the moment there is no reason to believe that Russia will increase its troops in Belarus.

He added that there is also no threat to Ukraine from the Belarusian troops – Belarus’ army is conducting scheduled exercises which the Intelligence Service knew about two and a half months before they started. If there is a threat, intelligence will know about it.

Reminder:

  • On 1 July, it became known that the exercises of the Armed Forces of Belarus at the country's training grounds had been extended at least until 9 July.
  • On 3 July, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that a single army has long been established in the Union of Belarus and Russia, and that he "long ago determined" that Belarus would participate in the Russian war against Ukraine.
