More than 23,000 tonnes of wheat were loaded onto the bulk carrier Brave Commander, which is now staying in Pivdennyi Port. It is now being prepared for shipment to Ethiopia.

Oleksandr Kubrakov, the Minister of Infrastructure reported that on Facebook.

"On Friday, the Brave Commander ship, which was chartered by the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), arrived at the Pivdennyi Port for loading. Now we see the final preparations of the ship before sending more than 23,000 tonnes of wheat to the residents of Ethiopia," the minister said.

According to the minister, Ethiopia is suffering from drought and armed confrontation for the second year in a row, so for Ethiopians, Ukrainian grain is, without exaggeration, a matter of life and death.

Currently, work continues with the UN World Food Programme to ensure that such passages become regular and they are clearly focused on humanitarian assistance to those regions of the world where it is most needed.

Background:

On Friday, the ship BRAVE COMMANDER arrived for loading at the Pivdennyi Port, flying the flag of Lebanon. Later it will move to Ethiopia with 23,000 tonnes of grain aboard.

In Ukraine, 20.8 million tons of grain of the new harvest were collected; in particular, the Mykolaiv and Zakarpattia regions have fully completed the harvesting of early group crops.
