There are about 22,000 teachers abroad, which is 5% of the Ukrainian educators in total.
This was announced by the education Ombudsman Serhiy Horbachov during a briefing in Ukrinform.
"That's why there won't be a shortage of educators as they are now abroad. It's even good that they are there. Because they can work in Ukrainian schools, they can do distance learning," says Horbachov.
According to the Ombudsman, there are currently between 700,000 and 1.5 million school-age children outside Ukraine, according to various estimates.
"This year, the number of schools will be much lower in Ukraine – now there is even a problem with the class formation in elementary schools," notes the education Ombudsman.
Background: Serhiy Horbachov also reported that more than 50% of parents in Ukraine choose distance education in schools from 1 September.
