Russian forces shell Ukrainian positions on nearly all fronts, several offensives were repulsed – General Staff

During 2 August, fighting took place almost along the entire front line. Russian troops resorted to assaults on several fronts.

Details: On the Sivershchyna front, the Russian army is constantly  shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops from the territory of the Russian Federation, and conducting aerial reconnaissance in the border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts.

On the Slobozhanshchyna front, Russian forces continue to conduct hostilities with the aim of holding the occupied lines and preventing the Defence Forces [of Ukraine - ed.] from creating favourable conditions for resuming the offensive. Russian soldiers take measures to replenish losses of personnel, as well as weapons and military equipment.

On the Kharkiv front, the occupation forces shelled the areas of the settlements of Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Dementiivka, Protopopivka, Husarivka, Chepil, Pytomnyk, Cherkaski Tyshky, Petrivka, Rtyshchivka, Staryi Saltiv, Skrypai, Sosnivka, Tsyrkuny and Svitlychne from tanks, tube and rocket artillery. Russian troops conducted an airstrike near Verkhnii Saltiv.

Russian occupation forces failed and retreated in an attempt to improve their tactical position in the area of Ternova – Bairak.

On the Sloviansk front, occupation forces fired from tube and rocket artillery in the areas of settlements of Kurulok, Hrushuvakha, Dibrivne, Adamivka, Dolyna, Krasnopillia, Mazanivka, Velyka Komyshuvakha, Vasylivka Persha and Khrestyshche. They also carried out an airstrike near Dibrivne.

The activity of Russian reconnaissance groups near Dovhenke and Dolyna was noted; the groups withdrew.

On the Donetsk front, the Russian forces are concentrating their efforts on conducting an offensive on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka fronts. They are attempting to restrain the actions of Ukrainian soldiers by systematic use of weapon fire and preventing them [Ukrainian troops - ed.] from moving on the further fronts. 

On the Kramatorsk front, shelling was recorded near Siversk, Serebrianka, Verkhnokamianske, Zvanivka and Donetske. Russian troops launched an airstrike near Serebrianka, and conducted aerial reconnaissance near Kryva Luka with the use of drones. 

Russian forces tried to advance in the area of Novoluhanske – Ivano-Darivka. They received a decisive rebuff from Ukrainian soldiers and withdrew.

On the Bakhmut front, artillery shelling was recorded in the areas of Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Zaitseve, Pokrovske, Vesele, Kurdiumivka and Zalizne. The Russian army increased the intensity of aviation on the front and carried out airstrikes near Yakovlivka, Pokrovske, Soledar, Bakhmut and Kodema.

All attempts of Russian forces to advance in the areas of Roty – Vershyna, Volodymyrivka – Yakovlivka, Klynove – Zaitseve and Pokrovske – Bakhmut were successfully repulsed. The Russian forces retreated with losses.

Some Russian units have seen partial success in the area of Vidrodzhennia – Kodema.

On the Avdiivka front, the Russian army shelled the settlements of Avdiivka, Netailove and Niu-York. It carried out airstrikes near Avdiivka and Novobakhmutivka.

The occupiers carried out assaults in the area of Mineralne – Avdiivka; they did not succeed and retreated. Russian forces have seen partial success in the Donetsk-Pisky area.

On the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhya fronts, shelling, an air strike and aerial reconnaissance by UAVs were recorded.

On the Pivdennyi Buh front, Russian forces are concentrating their efforts on holding the occupied lines and preventing the offensive of units of the Defence Forces [of Ukraine]. They try to regain lost positions.
