Russian forces attempt to breach Ukrainian defences on Bakhmut front; Kadyrovites conduct assault operations – General Staff report

Russian forces continue to attack Ukrainian troops along the entire front, but without success. For example, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled Russian attacks on Soledar, Bakhmutske and Vesela Dolyna. The Kadyrovites [units of the Russian Armed Forces that are subordinate to Ramzan Kadyrov, Head of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation - ed.] are attempting to advance on Zaitseve and Maiorsk.

Details: Russian forces are attempting to establish control over the entire territory of Donetsk Oblast and to maintain control over the previously occupied territories of Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv oblasts.

They are continuing to conduct missile and airstrikes on military and civilian targets across Ukraine.

In particular, the Russians carried out five missile strikes on the city of Kharkiv overnight and in the morning of 2 September, including two strikes using an S-300 anti-aircraft missile system. They also fired 23 rockets using Grad and Uragan multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS); they used cluster munitions in two of these attacks. Russian aircraft conducted nine airstrikes on Marinka, Soledar, Peremoha and Zaitseve.

Meanwhile, there were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts. Units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are continuing to carry out tasks to reinforce the security of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border in Brest and Gomel oblasts (Belarus). Planned inspections of units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are currently underway, as are the preparations for another round of military exercises. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) units of the Russian Armed Forces have been deployed in the Belarusian city of Brest; these units are set to join the reconnaissance efforts in the border-adjacent areas of Ukraine.

Russia is maintaining several units of its Armed Forces on the Sivershchyna front, in the parts of Bryansk and Kursk oblasts (Russia) near the Russian-Ukrainian border. Russian forces fired on areas in and around Senkivka, Khrinivka and Kamianska Sloboda in Chernihiv Oblast; and Novovasylivka, Maiske, Sukhodil and Nova Sloboda in Sumy Oblast.

There were no significant changes on the Slobozhanshchyna front, where the Ukrainian Defence Forces are maintaining their positions and preventing the Russian troops from advancing further into Ukrainian territory.

On the Kharkiv front, Russian forces fired on areas in and around Udy, Sosnivka, Velyki Prokhody, Pytomnyk, Ruski Tyshky, Cherkaski Tyshky, Petrivka, Peremoha, Staryi Saltiv and Pryshyb.

The Russians planted remotely delivered mines in the area in the vicinity of Lebiazhe.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces successfully repelled a Russian attack near Husarivka.

On the Sloviansk front, Russian forces used tank guns, mortars, tubed artillery and MLRS to fire on areas in and around Vernopillia, Brazhivka, Dibrivne, Dolyna, Bohorodychne, Donetske, Raihorodok and Krasnopillia, but did not undertake offensive operations.

On the Kramatorsk front, the Russians fired on areas in and around Verkhnokamianske, Ivano-Darivka, Pereizne, Vesele, Rozdolivka, Hryhorivka and Siversk.

On the Bakhmut front, Russian forces used mortars, tank guns, and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Kodema, Maiorsk, New-York, Sukha Balka and Yurivka.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled Russian attacks on Soledar, Bakhmutske and Vesela Dolyna.

Units of Kadyrovites carried out offensive operations in an attempt to advance on Zaitseve and Maiorsk; fighting is still underway there.

On the Avdiivka front, the Russian forces fired on the cities, towns and villages of Avdiivka, Karlivka, Pervomaiske, Vodiane, Opytne, Vesele, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Marinka.

The Russians also conducted offensive and assault operations in order to improve their tactical positions in the vicinity of Pervomaiske, Opytne and Nevelske. However, the coordinated actions of the Ukrainian Defence Forces forced the Russians to retreat to their previously held positions.

Russian troops did not undertake any offensive operations on the Novopavlivka front, but continued to fire on areas in and around Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Bohoiavlenka, Prechystivka, Novomaiorsk and Mykilske.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, Russians forces fired on areas in and around Novoocheretuvate, Novosilka, Vremivka, Novopil, Novodarivka, Zaliznychne, Dorozhnianka, Novodanylivka and Bilohiria.

Finally, on the Pivdennyi Buh front, the Russians fired on Shyroke, Partyzanske, Novopetrivka, Trudoliubivka, Liubomyrivka, Shevchenkove, Luch, Stepova Dolyna, Prybuzke, Lymany, Tavriiske and Liubymivka.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have successfully repelled Russian assaults near Vysokopillia and Potomkine.

Russian ships are continuing to conduct reconnaissance and to block civilian shipping in the waters of the Black and Azov seas.

There is an ongoing threat of missile attacks on infrastructure targets across the territory of Ukraine.
