Since the beginning of the war, at least 1,177 children have suffered as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. 780 of them suffered injuries of various degrees of severity.

According to her, it became known about the death of another child on 29 September as a result of a missile strike on the city of Dnipro. Also on this day, a 16-year-old boy was injured due to an attack on Mykolaiv.

In addition, according to the Children of War portal, as of today, at least 242 children are considered missing; another 7,890 are illegally deported, including to the Russian Federation. So far, Ukraine has only managed to bring back 55 children.

"These figures are not final, as work continues to establish them in places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories",  Herasymchuk explains.

She also added that the National Police, the Prosecutor General's office, and the National Information Bureau updated quantitative indicators for victims on a daily basis.

Herasymchuk also called on Ukrainians to use the Children of war portal if they need any advice on "children's" issues or to report:

  • a child who got lost;
  • a crime against children;
  • a child found;
  • a fact of deportation of a child;
  • a forced change of citizenship and documents of the child.
