Russia prepares to introduce visas for Ukrainians

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation says they are considering the possibility of introducing visas for Ukrainian citizens.

Quote: "The issue of measures in response to the introduction of a visa regime by Kyiv concerning the Russian Federation is being considered, they will not necessarily be mirrored."

Details: The Foreign Ministry added that when considering the issue of visas for Ukrainians, Russia "will take into account, in particular, the humanitarian factor."

Background: 

• On 1 July 2022, the decision on the visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation. Now every Russian has to justify the purpose of their trip to Ukraine in advance.
• Based on the results of a survey by KIIS (Kyiv International Institute of Sociology), the majority of Ukrainians support a visa regime with Russia, but some respondents still want open borders.
