Quote: "This crime is another sign of state terrorism on the part of Russia, and a blatant violation of international law. Russia must immediately set free the Director General of the ZNPP. We are calling on the international community, particularly the UN, the G7, and the IAEA to take decisive action regarding this," the statement says.

The Foreign Ministry has once again pointed out the urgency of maximum effort paid by the world community in order to demilitarise and liberate the ZNPP, as well as bringing it back under Ukraine’s control, since it is the only way to remove current threats in nuclear safety.

"We are awaiting the strengthening of pressure on the aggressor state with the purpose of stopping the Russian occupiers shooting at the ZNPP and other civilian nuclear facilities on Ukrainian territory and of preventing pressure on and repression against the ZNPP personnel and their families", the statement says.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has addressed the Russian government with a request to provide clarifications about the detention of the ZNPP Director General.

On 30 September, Ihor Murashov, Director General of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, was detained by a Russian patrol while on the way from the power plant to Enerhodar city.

They halted him; he was blindfolded and taken to an unknown destination by force.
