In Russian-occupied Mariupol, some residents still live in tents and cook on bonfires, because their houses were destroyed by the occupiers and no one has provided them with proper accomodation ever since.

Details: The city council reported that the tents are located near the Savona cinema, where residents of the city used to hide during the Russian attacks; citizens still cook food on bonfires and sleep in the basements of cinema theatres.

Residents state that keys to "new houses" are given out only to people from within "a closed circle".

Quote: "When the keys to the new houses were distributed, for some reason they were not given to any of the locals living here. All these beautiful houses are not for those who have lost their homes. They are for their inner circle, so to speak."

Background: In October, Petro Andryushchenko, the adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol, reported that in temporarily occupied Mariupol, the invaders are distributing temporary housing among Russians and collaborators, and the housing promised to the locals will be replaced by empty and half-destroyed flats.
