"The situation is extremely complicated, but we keep on working. The energy system is in a bad state at the moment, but as soon as the Pivdennoukrainsk Nuclear Power Plant starts operating normally again, households in Kherson will have electricity again," stated Ihor Safronov, the director of Khersonoblenergo.

He added that there will be extremely tight restrictions on the power supply, since the main power supply sources have been destroyed, so a reserve electricity transmission line with a limited throughput will be operating.

"The priority will be to supply electricity to critical infrastructure facilities, i.e. water supply facilities and hospitals. So we are asking people to be understanding," Safronov added.

Safronov also said repair works on the overhead power line are ongoing. This will enable the Dnipro-Mykolaiv water pipeline, which previously supplied Mykolaiv with drinking water, to resume functioning.

Background:

The Ukrainian railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, has provided Kherson railway station with a reserve energy supply and Starlink terminals. The station has become the second point in the city where it is possible to charge mobile phones and access the internet.

Due to the blackouts, first base mobile operator stations in Kherson operate on Starlink generators and terminals.

The telecommunication operator Ukrtelekom has started repair works in the liberated part of Kherson Oblast.
