UK suggests support for Ukraine following Brovary helicopter crash

UK Foreign Affairs Minister James Cleverly has said that the UK was ready to support Ukraine "in whatever ways [it] can" following the helicopter crash in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast.

Background:

  • A State Emergency Service of Ukraine helicopter crashed in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, on the morning of 18 January. The crash has killed the top leadership of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Early reports suggested that the crash claimed the lives of 18 people. Later, 16 people were reported dead, including 3 children.
  • A number of ambassadors, government representatives, and the EU leaders have expressed their condolences in the wake of the tragic crash.
