Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian attacks near 11 settlements – General Staff report

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled Russian attacks near 11 settlements on 1 January.

Quote: "During the past day, the enemy carried out 51 airstrikes and deployed 44 Shahed-136 drones. All of them were shot down by Ukrainian defence forces. Information about the overnight attack on the capital will be shared a little later. The enemy also performed 55 multiple-launch rocket system attacks, including on the children's hospital in the city of Kherson. The threat of enemy air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure remains throughout Ukraine.

The enemy continues to focus their efforts on conducting offensives on the Bakhmut front. They are trying to improve the tactical position of their troops on the Kupiansk, Lyman and Avdiivka fronts. On the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts, the enemy is defending previously occupied lines. On the Kherson front they are regrouping their troops, conducting defence and attacking the positions of our troops and civilian targets along the line of contact.

During the past day, Ukraine’s defence forces repelled the occupiers attacks near the settlements of Stelmakhivka and Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast), and Rozdolivka, Bilohorivka, Soledar, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Ozerianivka, Opytne and Krasnohorivka (Donetsk Oblast)".

Details: No formation of Russian offensive groups has been detected on the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, the areas in and around Leonivka (Chernihiv Oblast), Vilna Sloboda, Esman, Katerynivka and Shalyhyne (Sumy Oblast) and Ohirtseve, Vovchansk and Novomlynsk (Kharkiv Oblast) were subjected to mortar and artillery attacks.

On the Kupiansk front, more than 15 settlements came under Russian attack, including Andriivka, Kupiansk, Kucherivka, Lyman Pershyi, Vilshana, Orlianske, Kyslivka and Kotliarivka (Kharkiv Oblast) and Novoselivske and Miasozharivka (Luhansk Oblast).

On the Lyman front, the invaders fired on areas close to the settlements of Novoiehorivka, Ploshchanka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka in Luhansk Oblast and Terny and Dibrova in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut front, the Russians fired on more than 15 settlements including Berestove, Bilohorivka, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Stupochky, Bila Hora, Kostiantynivka and Dyliivka in Donetsk Oblast. They also carried out an airstrike near Bilohorivka.

On the Avdiivka front, Russian troops fired on Vodiane, Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Novopavlivka front,  Neskuchne, Vremivka, Velyka Novosilka and Vuhledar in Donetsk Oblast came under fire.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, tank, mortar and artillery attacks were recorded in the vicinities of Novosilka and Novopil (Donetsk Oblast) and Olhivske, Zaliznychne, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Stepove and Musiivka (Zaporizhzhia Oblast).

On the Kherson front, civilian infrastructure facilities in Tiahynka, Novotiahynka, Poniativka, Darivka, Sadove, Stanislav and Kherson suffered from Russian attacks.

The General Staff has confirmed that fire damage was inflicted on 31 December on clusters of Russian manpower and equipment in the temporarily occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

 "In the vicinity of the settlements of Tarasivka, Basan, Polohy, Berdiansk and Tokmak, the enemy losses amounted to over 175 wounded servicemen. Twelve pieces of weapons and military equipment and the enemy's ammunition storage point were destroyed. Information on the killed occupiers is being ascertained," the report says.

Aircraft from Ukraine’s defence forces carried out 13 strikes on clusters of Russian military personnel. Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery struck five clusters of Russian manpower and equipment in one day.
