The government has an understanding of how to survive this winter and is already preparing a plan to restore the power system in the spring and summer.

"We are not talking about temporary solutions, but about changing approaches, building and developing decentralised generation, and rebuilding and protecting distribution networks," the Prime Minister explained.

In addition, he emphasised that it is important that this week Ukraine managed to successfully negotiate on an increase in aid to the energy system during the meeting of the "Energy Ramstein" [a coalition of Ukraine's foreign partners who help it with restoration of its power system after Russian attacks].

Background:

Energy infrastructure facilities were hit after the Russian missile attack on 26 January. Emergency power outages have been implemented: the most difficult situation is currently observed in Kyiv, Odesa and Vinnytsia Oblasts.
