The military and political leadership of the Russian Federation is implementing measures to prevent the mass departure of men of conscription age abroad before the next wave of mobilisation, which is expected in January this year. A complete ban on crossing the state border for men of conscription age cannot be ruled out."

Details: Over the past 24 hours, the Russians have carried out eight airstrikes and more than 10 attacks from multiple-launch rocket systems. The threat of Russian air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure facilities remains throughout the territory of Ukraine.

The main efforts of the Russian occupiers are focused on attempts to completely capture Donetsk Oblast within its administrative border. They are conducting offensive operations on the Bakhmut and Lyman fronts.

The Russian invaders are unsuccessfully trying to improve their tactical position on the Kupiansk and Avdiivka fronts, while holding the defence on the Novopavlivka, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson fronts.

There are no significant changes on the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups by the Russians. At the same time, the invaders are attacking the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian facilities along the line of contact.

On the Slobozhanshchyna front, the Russians targeted the settlements of Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Ustynivka and Fyholivka in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupiansk front, the settlements of Dvorichna, Vilshana, Kupiansk, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Krokhmalne and Berestove in Kharkiv Oblast, as well as Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk Oblast, came under fire.

On the Lyman front, the invaders fired at the settlements of Makiivka, Ploshchanka, Kuzmyne and Dibrova in Luhansk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut front, the settlements of Spirne, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Soledar, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Bila Hora, Kurdiumivka, Dyliivka, Pivnichne, Maiorsk and Niu-York in Donetsk Oblast were attacked by the occupiers.

On the Avdiivka front, the Russians targeted Avdiivka, Nevelske, Marinka and Novomykhailivka settlements in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Novopavlivka front, the settlements of Mykilske, Vuhledar and Prechystivka in Donetsk Oblast were targeted by the Russian forces.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, the settlements of Zelene Pole and Novopil in Donetsk Oblast, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Charivne, Shcherbaky and Stepove in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, as well as Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, were shelled with artillery.

On the Kherson front, the occupiers do not cease terrorising the local population. Russian artillery shelled the civil infrastructure and population in Chornobaivka and Kherson.

Forced passportization of the population in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk Oblast continues. For instance, now banking institutions in the occupied territories require passports of the Russian Federation to issue payment cards.

Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian Air Forces carried out 15 strikes on clusters of Russian military manpower, as well as three attacks on the anti-aircraft missile systems of the invaders. At the same time, the Ukrainian defenders shot down an enemy Su-25 aircraft and a Mi-8 helicopter.

Units of Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery struck a cluster of Russian military manpower and equipment.

Background: Chief of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov reported that, due to a lack of manpower, Russia plans a new wave of mobilisation from 5 January 2023.
