About 35 combat clashes with Russians occur in one day – General Staff

About 35 combat clashes occurred between the Ukrainian Defence Forces and the Russian occupiers on five fronts on 23 July.

During the past day, the Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on the territory of Ukraine, using 17 cruise and two ballistic missiles. As a result of combat work by the air defence forces and means of the Air Forces, nine cruise missiles were destroyed. In addition, the enemy launched 39 air strikes and carried out 49 attacks from multiple-launch rocket systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and on settlements. Unfortunately, there were civilian casualties, and residential buildings, religious buildings and other civilian infrastructure facilities were destroyed.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.

The enemy continues concentrating its main efforts on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka fronts, and heavy fighting continues there. There were 35 combat engagements over the past day."

Details: On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the forming of any offensive groups. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, Russia is maintaining a military presence. Russian forces launched an airstrike near Pavlivka and Stepove in Sumy Oblast. They carried out mortar and artillery attacks on over 20 settlements, including Tymonovychi in Chernihiv Oblast; Seredyna-Buda, Pokrovka, Uhroidy and Yunakivka in Sumy Oblast, and Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Budarky, Hatyshche and Veterynarne in Kharkiv Oblast.

Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the defence on the Kupiansk front. Russian forces launched an airstrike near Kucherivka in Kharkiv Oblast. Artillery and mortar attacks were carried out in Fyholivka, Berestove, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna and Kyslivka in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Lyman front, Russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Torske in Donetsk Oblast. They launched an airstrike near the Serebrianka Forest in Donetsk Oblast. The settlements of Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast and Torske, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne and Rozdolivka in Donetsk Oblast were attacked by artillery.

On the Bakhmut front, under heavy Russian artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka and north-east of Orikhovo-Vasylivka in Donetsk Oblast. Over 10 settlements were affected by Russian artillery attacks, including Bila Hora, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Druzhba and New-York in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiivka front, under heavy Russian air and artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops near Avdiivka and Nevelske. At the same time, Russian forces carried out artillery attacks on over 10 settlements, particularly Avdiivka, Karlivka, Sieverne and Nevelske in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Marinka front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces are continuing to restrain an offensive by Russian troops in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Marinka. Russian forces attacked over 15 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Oleksandropil, Katerynivka, Marinka and Pobieda in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Shakhtarsk front, Russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Novomykhailivka and launched airstrikes near Blahodatne and Makarivka in Donetsk Oblast. They attacked over 15 settlements, including Zolota Nyva, Prechystivka, Vyhledar and Blahodatne in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson fronts, Russia is focusing its main efforts on preventing the further advance of Ukrainian troops. Russia failed to restore its lost position in the vicinity of Pryiutne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Russian forces carried out airstrikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv and Novodanylivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and Antonivka in Kherson Oblast. Over 30 settlements were subjected to artillery attacks, including Novodariivka, Huliaipole, Huliaipilske, Novoandriivka and Stepove in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Illinka, Kamianske and Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast; Antonivka, Havrylivka, Novoberyslav, Respublikanets and Kizomys in Kherson Oblast; the city of Kherson, and Yaselka and Ochakiv in Mykolaiv Oblast.

At the same time, the Defence Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation on the Melitopol and Berdiansk fronts, consolidating their positions on the territories already reclaimed, inflicting fire damage with artillery on detected Russian targets, and carrying out counter-battery warfare measures.

Over the course of the day, Ukrainian aircraft carried out seven strikes on areas where Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated. Ukrainian defenders additionally destroyed four tactical reconnaissance UAVs.

Units from Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery hit one area where Russian manpower, weapons and military equipment were concentrated, six field artillery units, one command post, one air defence system and one Russian electronic warfare station.
