Three Ukrainian athletes made their way to the finals of the main commercial competition in athletics in high jump: Iryna Herashchenko, Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Yuliia Levchenko. Herashchenko began her competition in the United States as the leader of the Diamond League season in this discipline, while Mahuchikh started out as the current champion of the 2022 finals and the winner of this year's World Cup in Budapest.

In total, seven athletes participated in the finals in Eugene in the women's high jump category.

The first to start the competition among Ukrainians were Herashchenko and Levchenko, who performed without errors jumping at a height of 1.83 metres and 1.86 metres.

Mahuchikh performed the first jump of 1.91 metres, which she cleared with her first attempt. But Levchenko outdid her in her third attempt, while Herashchenko did not perform a single successful jump and dropped out of the competition, taking the seventh place.

Mahuchikh jumped over the bar at a height of 1.95 metres in her first jump. However, at this point, Yuliia Levchenko dropped out of the competition, not being able to clear the bar in three attempts.

The struggle for awards unfolded between Mahuchikh, Olyslagers and Topić. For the 1.98 metre jump, the Australian and Serbian athletes performed an unsuccessful first attempt. In her turn, the Ukrainian took the height in her first jump.

Topić was the first to exit the fight for victory in the final, eventually not crossing the height of 1.98 metres. Instead, Olyslagers cleared the bar at 1.98 metres in her third jump.

Rivals continued to fight for victory in the 2.01 metre jump, which the Australian and Ukrainian both cleared in their first attempt.

Olyslagers didn’t manage the 2.03 metres bar in two attempts, while Mahuchikh took it in her second attempt and set a new season world record. In the third jump, Nicola Olyslagers repeated the result of the Ukrainian and updated her personal best height.

All three 2.05 metre jumps by Olyslagers and Mahuchikh were unsuccessful. However, the Ukrainian athlete became the champion by the results of her previous jumps.

In the 2023 season, Ukrainian athletes won 16 Diamond League awards of various categories. In particular, Mahuchikh (in Rabat, Xiamen and Brussels) and Herashchenko (in Chorzów) competed for gold in high jump competitions.

In total, 16 sets of awards among men and women in all athletics disciplines of the series will be played in the final of the Diamond League.

The final of the season of the Diamond League 2023 was missed by Ukrainian Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk, who qualified to perform in Eugene in the triple jump and in the long jump disciplines. However, Maryna did not compete in the United States due to an illness.
