Russian forces keep trying to break through Ukrainian defence on Avdiivka front – General Staff

In the area of responsibility of the Tavriia Operational Strategic Group on the Avdiivka front, Russian forces keep trying to break through the Ukrainian defence, but to no avail. Ukrainian defenders repelled about 20 Russian attacks near the settlements of Avdiivka, Keramik, Tonenke, Sieverne, Pervomaiske and Netailovo in Donetsk Oblast.

Details: Almost 100 combat clashes took place at the front during the past day. In total, Russian forces launched three missile strikes and 58 airstrikes, and fired 54 times from multiple-launch rocket systems on positions of Ukrainian troops and on settlements.

Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private homes and other civilian infrastructure facilities have been destroyed and damaged.

Ukraine’s Defence Forces are on the defensive in Ukraine's east and south, conducting an offensive operation on the Melitopol front and offensive actions on the Bakhmut front, killing Russian soldiers, liberating the temporarily occupied territories step by step, and consolidating their positions.

Russian forces cynically launched a missile attack on the Social Protection Department building in the centre of the city of Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast. Over 20 civilians were injured as a result of the targeted attack, and two administrative buildings were partially destroyed.

Russian forces launched airstrikes on settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts.

About 130 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts came under Russian artillery fire.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, Russian forces are maintaining a military presence in the border areas and undertaking active sabotage activities to prevent Ukrainian troops from being deployed to threatened areas, and increasing the density of mine barriers along the state border in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group on the Kupiansk front, Ukrainian soldiers repelled over 20 Russian attacks near the settlements of Synkivka, Ivanivka and Kyslivka in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Lyman front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive near the settlement of Makiivka in Luhansk Oblast, where Ukrainian defenders repelled over five Russian attacks.

On the Bakhmut front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces continue their assault operations south of the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast, inflicting losses on the Russians in terms of manpower and equipment and consolidating their positions.

On the Marinka front, during the past day, Ukraine’s Defence Forces successfully repelled about 15 Russian attacks near the settlement of Marinka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Shakhtarsk front, Russian forces conducted unsuccessful assault operations using aircraft near the settlement of Staromaiorske in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, Russian forces unsuccessfully tried to regain their lost ground near Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational Strategic Group on the Kherson front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces are conducting counter-battery operations, destroying supply storage points and effectively hitting the Russian rear.

Ukraine’s Defence Forces continue their offensive operation on the Melitopol and Bakhmut fronts, inflicting losses in military personnel and equipment on the Russians and exhausting them.

Russian forces are suffering significant losses on the battlefield. Thus, in the last 3 days alone, during assault operations near Krasnohorivka in Donetsk Oblast, the Russians’ losses amounted to more than 100 killed, most of them due to the lack of evacuation from the battlefield, as well as about 200 soldiers wounded.

During the past day, the Ukrainian Air Force conducted 12 strikes on the areas where personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated and on a Russian bridge. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed a Russian Su-25 fighter jet and an Orlan-10 operational-tactical UAV.

Units from Rocket Forces and Artillery struck one command post, an area where Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated, an ammunition storage point and one electronic warfare system belonging to the Russians.
