China on plans to build tunnel from Russia to Crimea: Groundless statement

China’s Foreign Ministry considers the report by The Washington Post about the alleged plans of Russia and China to build an underwater tunnel to Crimea to be groundless.

Background:

• On 24 November, The Washington Post reported that Russian and Chinese businessmen with government ties secretly discussed plans in October to build an underwater tunnel connecting Russia with occupied Ukraine's Crimea and formed a "consortium" for this purpose.
