The area of liberated forests in Kherson Oblast covers about 7,000 hectares, including only 138.8 hectares that have been cleared of mines.

Over 62,000 hectares of Kherson Oblast’s forests were damaged after the Russians blew up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (KHPP).

Serhii Vlasenko, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection, stated this during a visit to Kherson Oblast, as reported on the ministry's Facebook page.

"Not so long ago, this area was littered with Russian mines and projectiles. We managed to plant saplings that will become a forest in the future, thanks to the hard work of bomb disposal experts. However, there is still a lot of work to be done in Kherson Oblast for both bomb disposal teams and foresters," said Serhii Vlasenko.

Vlasenko also discussed clearing forests of mines and expanding the territory of Nyzhnodniprovskyi National Park with the head of the Kherson Oblast State Administration.
