Captured Ukrainian soldiers used as human shield: Prosecutor's Office investigates Russian war crime

The Prosecutor’s Office in Zaporizhzhia Oblast has launched an investigation into a Russian violation of the laws and customs of war in which the Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions using captured Ukrainian soldiers as a human shield.

Details: The data was added to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations based on a video that was posted online by Radio Liberty journalists.

According to preliminary reports, Russian soldiers, in breach of international humanitarian law, used Ukrainian soldiers as a human shield while conducting combat action against the Defence Forces of Ukraine on the Zaporizhzhia front.

Priority investigative actions (searches) are now underway.
