Ukrainians trust President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, TV presenter and volunteer Serhii Prytula and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko the most among the nine famous political figures.

Source: results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) from 4 to 10 December

Quote from KIIS: "So, among the nine politicians we asked about, the most trusted is V. Zelenskyy, who is trusted by 77% of Ukrainians (although the trust indicator is down from 90% in May 2022) and do not trust – 22% (in May 2022, the indicator was 7%). Next comes S. Prytula, who is trusted by 69% but do not trust – 25% (trust indicators have slightly deteriorated compared to May 2022). V. Klitschko also belongs to the top three leaders in terms of trust, with 52% trust and 43% distrust."

Details: At the same time, the KIIS emphasised a rather significant decline in trust in Klitschko, as 74% trusted him and 18% did not in May 2022.

Next comes a group of politicians trusted by a relatively significant proportion of respondents. However, they have a negative trust-distrust balance (more people do not trust them than trust them).

In particular, 33% of respondents trust Andrii Yermak, the President's Office's Head, and 51% do not trust him (43% against 23% in May 2022, so people trusted him much more).

The KIIS pointed out that the fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, is the only one on the list whose trust indicators are now better than in May 2022. Currently, 27% trust him, and 68% do not (16% against 80% in May 2022).

This group also includes Dmytro Razumkov, MP and Ukrainian parliament’s former chairman, whom 25% trust and 37% do not trust (35% versus 25% in May 2022). At the same time, the KIIS noted that in his case, it should be taken into account that 33% of respondents do not know him.

In addition, lawmakers Yuliia Tymoshenko and Yurii Boiko and Zelenskyy's former adviser Oleksii Arestovych are included in the list. 10% trust Tymoshenko now, and 87% do not trust her (18% against 74% in May 2022). Speaking about Boiko, 9% trust him and 71% do not (previously, it was 11% against 66%).

"The attitude towards O. Arestovych became diametrically opposed. In May 2022, the majority of Ukrainians trusted him - 62% against 21% who did not trust him. As of December 2023, 11% trust him, 78% do not trust him," KMIS said.

The study was conducted from 4 to 10 December. A total of 1,200 respondents living in all oblasts of Ukraine were interviewed using telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile numbers. The survey was conducted with adult (aged 18 years and older) citizens of Ukraine who, at the time of the survey, lived on the territory of Ukraine (within the limits controlled by the Ukrainian authorities until 24 February 2022). Residents of the temporarily occupied territories could not be included in the sample, and the survey was not conducted with citizens abroad.

Formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of such a sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.1) did not exceed 3.2% for indicators close to 50%, 2.7% for indicators close to 25%, 2.1% for indicators close to 10%, and 1.4% for indicators close to 5%.

In times of war, a certain systematic deviation is added in addition to the specified formal error. However, sociologists are convinced that the results obtained retain high representativeness and allow for a fairly reliable analysis of public sentiment.
