Russians increase number of artillery attacks – General Staff report

Russian forces have increased the number of artillery attacks – over 1,000 cases of shelling were recorded on 24 December in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group of Forces alone.

Thus, in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group of Forces, the number of enemy artillery attacks is more than 1,000 per day."

Details: 48 combat clashes were recorded during the day. The Russians inflicted 29 airstrikes and carried out 26 attacks from multiple-launch missile systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, the operational situation is without significant changes.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, over 20 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks of the Russians, including Kliusy, Bleshnia, Leonivka in Chernihiv Oblast; Seredyna-Buda, Prohres, Volfyne, Basivka, Myropillia in Sumy Oblast; Huriv Kozachok, Veterynarne, Hatyshche, Budarky and Topoli in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupiansk front, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv Oblast, as well as Stelmakhivka, Luhansk Oblast, where the Russians unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of Ukrainian troops. The Russian forces inflicted air strikes in the areas of Petropavlivka and Kyslivka, Kharkiv Oblast. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, in particular Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka and Berestove in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Lyman front, the Russians did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. They inflicted air strikes near Yampolivka and Torske in Donetsk Oblast. In addition, over 10 settlements suffered from artillery and mortar attacks, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, as well as Torske, Serebrianka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne and Rozdolivka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled three Russian attacks on Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk Oblast. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka and New-York in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiivka front, the defenders repelled 10 Russian attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove and Avdiivka, and 15 more in the vicinity of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in Donetsk Oblast, where the Russians unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of the Ukrainian troops. The Russian forces also launched air strikes near the settlements of Ocheretyne, Tonenke and Avdiivka in Donetsk Oblast. The settlements of Keramik, Ocheretyne, Stepove, Avdiivka, Karlivka and Netailove in Donetsk Oblast were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.

On the Marinka front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to restrain the Russians in the areas of Marinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk Oblast. Here the Russians, with the support of aircraft, made three unsuccessful attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian defenders. Under the artillery and mortar fire were the settlements of Oleksandropil, Krasnohorivka, Kurakhove, Marinka, Katerynivka and Yelyzavetivka.

On the Shakhtarsk front, the Russians did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. An airstrike was carried out in the area of Staromaiorske, Donetsk Oblast. About 10 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks, in particular Vodiane, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, Urozhaine and Rivnopil in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled three attacks near Robotyne and south of Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where the Russians unsuccessfully tried to oust the Ukrainian units from their positions. About 20 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks, including Levadne, Huliaipole, Huliaipilske, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka and Piatykhatky in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Tiahynka, Kherson, Komyshany, Bilozerka and Ochakiv in Mykolaiv Oblast were subjected to Russian artillery shelling in the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational Strategic Group on the Kherson front.

The Russians did not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units from the left bank of the Dnipro River, carrying out 23 unsuccessful assault actions. They received a worthy rebuff and suffered significant losses. The Ukrainians are steadfastly holding the line, continuing to hold their positions and inflicting fire on the Russians.

During the day, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine targeted 12 clusters of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, as well as an ammunition storage point and an anti-aircraft missile system. Units of the Rocket Forces and Artillery targeted two artillery pieces and one command point.
