The White House has stressed that in the light of Russia’s latest large-scale attacks on Ukraine it is particularly important that the US Congress supports the White House’s latest request for additional military aid funding for Ukraine, given that it is due to run out.

Quote: "[I]n the last 48 to 72 hours, you all have seen that Russia continues to launch drone and missile attacks, including ballistic missile attacks, on — on targets inside Ukraine, to include not only military targets in Ukraine, but civilian targets in Ukraine, to continue to try to weaponise winter, to go after their infrastructure."

"[Putin is doing] everything he can to try to put the Ukrainians on their back feet, which is why it’s so important that the supplemental funding request that the President put forward gets passed."

"[T]he President signed out the last security assistance package for which we had replenishment authority funds. That’s it. We need the supplemental passed so that we can provide additional security assistance to Ukraine."

"[T]he things that were signed out on the 27th have not all been delivered to Ukraine; that will come in coming days and weeks. But after that, absent supplemental funding, there’s — there’s no other magical pot to dip into to try to get support for Ukraine."
