Quote: "We have just completed the mandatory evacuation of 18 settlements on the Kupiansk front. Currently, we have announced mandatory evacuation from 47 more settlements in four hromadas (a hromada is an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories – ed.).

We are considering the issue in the north[ern part of the oblast]. These are Kharkiv district and Bohodukhiv district, the so-called Zolochiv front.

Following our information, the National Police reported that there are no more children on the very border, where settlements are constantly under enemy fire. However, we will monitor this situation again and will probably make a decision. Even those settlements that are located further from the border are still under fire. Because the enemy has started hitting the settlements that were not under attack a month ago. So now we will consider this issue at the [session of] the Oblast Defence Council."

Background:

  • In August 2023, the authorities started the mandatory evacuation of 37 settlements in the Kupiansk district, Kharkiv Oblast, due to the increased intensity of Russian attacks.
  • In January, the mandatory evacuation zone for families with children in Kharkiv Oblast was expanded.
