Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has stated that Russia will remain a threat for as long as Vladimir Putin leads it.

Details: Sikorski noted that the outcome of the Russo-Ukrainian war would determine the balance of power on the European continent and the sense of security.

"I think we cannot be certain of what our large neighbour, Russia, will do while Vladimir Putin is in charge of this nation," he said.

Sikorski described modern Russia as a bloody dictatorship, noting it has more political prisoners than the decaying Soviet Union.

"It has built a brainwashed ideology of bringing back the empire. Therefore, Russia under this leadership and with this state ideology will remain a threat for as long as it has this leadership," the Polish foreign minister said.

Additionally, Sikorski suggested that there could come a point when Russia simply runs out of personnel and resources to continue its offensive war.

Background:

  • He recently acknowledged that the possibility of "wider aggression by the end of the decade" unleashed by Russia should be considered.
  • Sikorski also expressed hope that US President Donald Trump would be able to pressure Putin into abandoning "some absurd demands" regarding Ukraine.
