Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has claimed that Russia is not bombing the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) but is ensuring its safety.

Quote from Peskov: "It is under our control, and therefore the Russian side is ensuring the safety at this plant."

Details: Peskov once again blamed Ukraine for attacking the ZNPP, arguing it would be "illogical to accuse the Russian side of bombing a plant that it itself controls".

"And despite this [the attacks – ed.], Russian specialised personnel and plant workers are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of the plant. It is being reliably maintained during different periods. The Russian side is in constant contact with the IAEA and, in accordance with accepted norms and rules, informs the IAEA about the situation at the plant," Peskov said.

For reference: The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was seized by Russian forces on 4 March 2022. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces have repeatedly bombarded the plant and surrounding areas – projectiles have hit high-voltage lines and areas near the nuclear reactor. The plant has repeatedly been on the brink of blackout.
